Pacific research created at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland is now more accessible than ever through the launch of Measina o le Pasefika, Treasures of the Pacific, a new digital repository designed to preserve, showcase and share Pacific scholarship with communities across Aotearoa and the wider Pacific.
Officially launched by Pro Vice-Chancellor Pacific Professor Fonoiā Jemaima Tiatia-Siau at the Fa'anānā Efeso Collins Space in the General Library on 8 October, the repository brings together Pacific research in a searchable online platform, making it easier for students, academics, communities and future generations to discover, access and engage with Pacific knowledge.
Named by Professor Tiatia-Siau, Measina o le Pasefika is intended to be more than a digital archive.
"It’s more than a digital repository. It is a living vessel of Pacific scholarship, connecting past, present and future generations while ensuring Pacific voices, identities, and ways of knowing, being and doing are preserved, celebrated and accessible for generations to come," she says.
